Children’s Eye Health And Safety Month - August 2021
It's #childrensEyeHealth & Safety Month. Astigmatism causes blurry vision due to an irregularly shaped cornea/lens. It is more prevalent in Latinx & Black kids < 6 yo. Kids will squint, turn head to side, & close 1 eye to see better.
30-35% of Black (and all) children don’t have yearly vision tests in school or a doctor’s office. Only 2.5% of ophthalmologists in the US are Black.

There are five main types of Hepatitis (A-E). Although some people with hepatitis do not show symptoms, others display symptoms such as jaundice of the skin and eyes, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea.
According to a 2019 study by the WHO, Hepatitis B is most prevalent within the general population in African regions. Vaccines have been developed to prevent the spread of Hepatitis A, B, and D. However, hepatitis still results in about 1 million deaths globally per year.
